Cape Girardeau Baptist Association
A community of churches assisting each other in carrying out God's Great Commission

The North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention is launching a new campaign called GPSGods Plan for Sharing. It is a 10 year initiative utilizing various forms of media, advertising and community canvassing with prayer-walking and Gospel distribution. This is not just another program, but rather an opportunity to prompt your church to practice the skills and tools they already possess. GPS provides a framework for success through a concentrated emphasis that can be molded into what you are currently doing within your local church as well as serving as an impetus to ignite a passion for sharing the Gospel with all those who are within the area of influence of your church.

Along the journey, there are four Biblical mileposts: Praying, Engaging, Sowing and Harvesting

Imagine prayer-walking your community and experiencing genuine change in your church as it reaches and teaches lost people

Imagine the majority of your church membership participating in sharing the Gospel as a trained believer

Imagine communities being transformed as Cape Girardeau Baptist Association churches work alongside each other in evangelizing the lost in our communities

Imagine the record numbers of baptism. People and families being changed for eternity, and communities being transformed as folk come to salvation.

Gary Taylor, our MBC Evangelism Specialist, will conduct a training seminar on Friday, January 22, 7-9 PM and Saturday, January 23, 8 AM 12 Noon at the Associational Office. Judy Jetton will be co-instructing the prayer-walking sessions.

Bro. Bill Jetton and I want to encourage every Pastor in every church to attend this training opportunity, even if you can only attend one of the sessions. Invite your staff, your Deacons, and every member of your church to be a part of this tremendous initiative!

-Gregg Fina, Evangelism Director

Here is the process we are planing to follow
Bro. Gary Taylor, Missouri Baptist Convention Evangelism Director, will lead in a training conference at the Associational Office on January 22-23. He will share the concept of the GPS emphasis and lead us with:

1. A strong emphasis on the prayer portion with ideas and "how to's" of what can be done throughout 2010

This prayer training and emphasis will be encouraged as a option of the Saturday afternoon ministries during our Associational Mission Acts 1:8 Conference on March 5,6 & 7 held at and hosted by FBC Millersville

2. A direction of implementing the Engaging, Sowing and Harvesting portions in 2011

Throughout 2010, in the Association, we will:
1. Challenge a very strong evangelism emphasis for Easter Sunday of this year - April 4, 2010
2. Enlist as many of our 32 churches as possible to participate as we spend the rest of 2010 in developing and encouraging the prayer portion of the emphasis with the intent of saturating our geographical area with prayer
3. Develop a budget for the Associational Evangelism 2011 year to include media, training and materials needed

January through April of 2011, we will:
Lead in the Engaging, Sowing and Harvesting portions of the emphasis with a target date of Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011

Throughout 2011, we will:

1. Continue the Engaging, Sowing and Harvesting portions of the emphasis

2. Develop strategy for the continued GPS emphasis in the 2012-13 time block
